Additional information for course registration:

  • Courses that have a red "R" are reserved for a select group of NAU students and cannot be requested
  • If you are recieving an error saying you cannot enroll because of a hold it is because you have not submitted your immunization records
  • Transcripts that have not been recieved will trigger a "Pre-Requisites Not Met" error
  • Your transcripts take two weeks to process, send them ASAP!
  • If you require an override, submit the Override Authorization Form and include the NAU Course Subject and Course Number
    • Course Subject & Number look like this: MAT123 (1234)
    • Also send me the professor's full name
    • This will help speed up the override process

WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE REGISTRATION PROBLEMS DUE TO PREREQUISITE ISSUES (FOR ALL CLASSES EXCEPT BUSINESS):

  1. First, try to register for the classes you want/need.
  2. If you receive an error saying that the prerequisites haven’t been met, go to the NAU Academic Catalog.  Click on “Courses” on the left hand side and look up the course you are trying to register for to see what the prerequisites are.
  3. Make sure you have actually taken the prerequisites at your home university.
  4. If you have met the prerequisites, complete the Override Authorization form and email it to me at nationalstudentexchange@nau.edu  All the information needed for the form can be found under the class search function in LOUIE, the NAU Academic Catalog, and the academic catalog of your home campus.
  5. I can help you with an override into the class ONLY AFTER I have received the attached form with the necessary information from you.  You may also try to contact the professor yourself to request the override.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE REGISTRATION PROBLEMS DUE TO PREREQUISITE ISSUES FOR BUSINESS COURSES (MKT, FIN, ACC, CIS, ECO, or MGT)

  1. Submit an unofficial copy of your transcripts AND copies of course syllabus for all business classes you have taken (or are currently taking) to: WA Franke College of Business Office of Academic Services; NAU Box 15066; Attn: Katie Smith, Flagstaff AZ 86011 or you may FAX to 928-523-6559 or email to Katie.Smith@nau.edu Be sure to indicate that you are an incoming NSE student.
  2. You will work directly with Academic Advisor, Katie Smith, in The W.A. Franke College of Business.  If an override is needed to get into the class, Katiewill assist you with this process.
  3. Note that if you are looking to enroll in upper division Business courses, it will be more timely process.
  4. Be sure to check your class schedule in LOUIE as you may not be informed once you have been enrolled in a course.  If your request is denied, you will be notified via your NAU email.

Please note that a cumulative GPA of 2.75 is REQUIRED for all students who wish to take upper division business courses.  Please expect that not all of the courses will have space available.  NOTE: Students cannot enroll in MGT 490C under any circumstance.

REGISTRATION PROBLEMS DUE TO THE CLASS BEING FULL

  1. If you receive an error telling you that a class is full you will need to contact the instructor yourself to request an override.  Make sure to let them know you are an NSE student and that you register after continuing students.
  2. To get an instructor’s email address: When you search for a class in LOUIE, it will list the instructor name.  All email addresses for faculty and staff at NAU are Firstname.Lastname@nau.edu.  Therefore, to find out the email address of an instructor, all you need to know is their name.  Make sure you spell it right! You can also look up an instructor’s full contact information in the NAU Directory.
