Program Description:

Jönköping University

Jonkoping, Sweden

Situated on the southern shores of Lake Vättern, Jönköping is Sweden's tenth largest city with a population of 120,000. It is 180 km east of Gothenburg and 320 km south-west of Stockholm in the heart of southern Sweden. Its central location makes other major Swedish cities and continental Europe easily accessible. Jönköping offers students a wide variety of entertainment, outdoor activities, restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, swimming, and a rich cultural atmosphere. Bicycles are quite popular and useful in a city the size of Jönköping and there is an excellent system of bicycle paths running throughout the towns, suburbs and beside the lake. The Swedish climate is affected by the warm Gulf Stream and therefore the weather is much milder than in many other places at corresponding latitudes.

Jönköping University is located at two sites, two blocks from each other. Housing is approximately twenty minutes away by bus. The campus is within very close walking distance to the center of town and to the beach. The University has 9,000 students, of whom 1,000 are studying at Jönköping International Business School. The campus runs on a quarter system and international students are encouraged to take at least 2 quarters.

Jönköping University comprises three independent schools for business, communication, and engineering. In Swedish universities, courses are usually offered one subject at a time (consecutive scheduling). Universities in Sweden use the ECTS credit system. 2 credits at Jönköping University will come back as 1 credit at NAU. For example, a 7.5 credit class will come back as 4 credits at NAU. Students should look to take 30 ECTS credits per semester at Jönköping.
Jönköping International Business School
Jönköping International Business School has courses in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Business Informatics and Commercial Law.
School of Education and Communication
The School of Education and Communication has many intercultural communications courses and would be a perfect fit for students looking to get an International Communications minor.  See the courses offered.
School of Engineering
The School of Engineering in Jönköping is one of the most modern in Sweden. Engineering degree programs and courses are conducted in collaboration with the business community, and students enjoy constant insight into the working and entrepreneurial spirit of Small and Medium-sized companies. Students can choose between Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering.
