Program Information

Study abroad in wonderful, Suzhou, China at Soochow University’s School of Overseas Education.

The city of Suzhou is a major city located in the southeast of the Jiangsu Province in Eastern China, and is next door to Shanghai.  Surrounded by the Yangtze River and the shores of Taihu Lake, Suzhou, was first inhabited over 2500 years ago and is the cradle of the Wu culture. 

During this 4-week program, you will be immersed in the Chinese culture and have the opportunity to experience China first-hand. While studying the Chinese language in the morning with Soochow Univeristy faculty, you’ll take a unique look at Chinese art, pottery, culture, philosophy, history, and politics during some afternoons and weekends with NAU faculty, Dr. Xiaoyi Lui.  You will also have the opportunity to tour Suzhou with Dr. Liu and will visit Tiger Hill, Panmen, Water Town (Tongli), and Humble Administration Garden. 

The School of Overseas Education at Soochow University offers a range of programs to overseas students year round including both long-term and short-term Chinese language programs, Chinese culture programs, and short-term Chinese economy program and come from more than 30 countries including Korea, Japan, The US, Germany, France, Australia, England, and Malaysia.

Students will be responsible for making and paying for their own flight.

Requirements

2.5 GPA
Two semesters of Chinese Langauge Instruction in CHI 101 and CHI 102

Courses Available

Students on this program will receive credit for CHI 201 and LAN 399

Estimated Cost:  $2899- Does not include airfare, meals, or personal expenses
