Program Description:

THE NO EXCUSES SCHOLARSHIP

The No Excuses Scholarship is intended to support students who face significant financial challenges but wish to pursue an education abroad opportunity.  Students often say that lack of financial resources explains their inability to participate in education abroad experiences.  As the title suggests, this scholarship effectively eliminates this excuse.  The scholarship is ideally intended to benefit students who wish to be enrolled in a semester-long bilateral exchange program.  Students wishing to participate in short-term faculty-led programs may also apply, but applications for semester-long programs will be given priority.  In short, the Center for International Education aims to ensure that every NAU student can take advantage of an education abroad experience, including students with significant financial need.

We strongly encourage underrepresented populations in study abroad to apply. This includes students of color, majors in STEM fields, students with disabilities, non-traditional students, &  first generation. Be sure to disclose on your application if any of the above is relevant to you.

Deadlines:

Fall/Summer: March 15*
Spring/Winter: October 15

* For 2014 we have a summer deadline of MArch 15, which has passed. The above reflects all future deadlines.

Award:

$500-$1,000

Rules:

This scholarship is available to all NAU students participating in a program approved by the Center for International Education, but intended primarily to support students participating in a semester-long bilateral exchange program. Each applicant will be approved by a scholarship committee made up of study abroad advisors and other staff at the Center for International Education. The amount awarded to each recipient will be deposited into their LOUIE account. If the recipient cancels their program abroad for any reason, the scholarship will be withdrawn. Students will be notified of results no later than four weeks after the deadline.
